Lord Salisbury's proposal to hold a conference of the Powers to discuss the Eastern situation has been rejected. Samory's slavers attacked Lieutenant Henderson's expedition, which was on a peaoeful mission. The commander of the native force of Haussaß, accompanying Lieutenant Henderson, was wounded while the latter is reported to be missing.
