A Divorce Case in Sydney.
A case of interest to New Zealand is occupying the attention of the Sydney Divorce Court, in which Mrs Gillon seeks a divorce from Dr Gillon, formerly of Wellington, on the ground of cruelty. Dr Gillon made a counter petition on the ground of his wife's adultery. Before any evidence had been taken the presiding Judge made a strong appeal tat the parties to settle the matter out of Court. He was convinced that the parties would never live together again, and even if (he Court made a decree they would not; be in any better position than they were at present, while in addition there would be an enormous cost which would fall on the husband. There would also be the farther unpleasantness of the matter being discussed in public, which be thought very undesirable. After a short adjournment to give the parties a chance of arranging the matter, counsel informed the Court that it was quite impossible to arrange ttie matter, and the case was resumed.— Press Association.
