Shooting Accident at Woodviile.

A sad fatal accident happened at Woudville on Monday forenoon. Three lads were shooting on the banks of the Mangoatia, above the freezing works, one of whom, George Home, aged 13 years, carried a pearifle. Another boy, Thomas Murphy, also aged 13, whose mother's farm is close by, was watching young Home firing the pea-rifle. A cartridge had just been inserted into the rifle, when it accidentally went off and shot young Murphy. The pellet entered his nose above the left eye, and went right through the head. The doctor's attention was of no avail, the boy dying at 2 o'clock after lingering about two hours. Great sympathy is felt for the mother, who works the farm by herself, and the boy was becoming very useful. — Press Association.
