Anarchy is general throughout Crete, excepting in the plaoes occupied by the Powers. The Admirals ordered the insurgents not to prevent the landing of provisions for the. Turkish blockhouse there, It is considered essential that the Greeks should not occupy Elassona, a camp strongly fortified. The fortifying of Prevesa has been stopped. : Germany refuses to use her troops for the Cretan blockade, as she would prefer to blockade Jihe Piraus, the harbour of Athens. The foreign Admirals are greatly impressed with the armaments of the British warships, and the skill of their manoeuvres. The Ozar has donated six thousand roubles (£600) and the Pope ten thousand franos (£4160) to tbe fund in aid of the Cretan refugees. The Turks made another attempt to ooovey provisions to those besieged in Fort Malata, but the insurgents prevented them from doing so, and pursued the convoy as far as Suda Bay. The gunboats then shelled the insurgents and compelled them to retreat. The Austrian ironclad stopped a Greek steamer and a sailing vessel which were attempting to run tbe blockade. The insurgents have surrounded Moslems at Sitia, and are attempting to starve the garrison into submission. The Greek Court newspaper states that the Powers have stopped friendly parleying with Turkey.
