The Dupieix anniversary baa just been celebrated with high ceremonies and appropriate enthusiasm by the fervent partisans, affioial and nonoffieial, of French coonial extension. Dupleix lived exactly two bandied years ago, and was very nearly founding a French-Indian Empire which, his admirers b'lievp, ha wonld have succeeded in doing hid it not been lor the hostility dUp'-ay* d towards him by the French Govern ment of the period. In one of the speeches delivered at the anniversary celebration, it was pathetically admitted, that Frenchmen are not willing colonists, that they do not like leaving France, and that if they f Ti? do io, they want to corns buote
