Before the House of Commons enquiry Commander Sir Graham Bower Imperial Secretary to Lord Bosmead (late Governor of Cape Colony), stated, in reply to a question by Mr Chamberlain, that in October, 1895, Mr Cecil Rhodes, after pledging his secrecy, informed him that a rising was probable on the Hand, and (hat be intended to place a force at Petsain, in British Bechuanaland, to assist the movement if necessary. He (Mr Rhodes) considered this action necessary since the Imperial Government was so slow. Mr Graham Bower stated that he did not inform Lord Rosmead.
The Queen has started on a visit to Nice.
President Faure will have an interview with Her Majesty at Noisy Ie Sec, a town in the department of the Seine.
Twenty five thousand troops will line the streets through which the Queen passes ou her way to St. Paul's on June 22nd.
The Queens procession will pass through Picadilly, St. James' Square, Pall Mall, Trafalgar Square, The Strand, Fleet street, Ludgate Hill, to St. Paul's. The return route will be by London Bridge, Westminster Bridge, Parliament street and Whitehall to Buckingham Palace.
