Fatal Accident at Waikanae.
m, On Thursday morning at Waikanae an accident happened in Mr N. Campbell's sawmill, which unfortunately resulted fatally. One of two boilers by some means exploded and was hurled against a young man named Norman McKay, an engint -driver, throwing him a distance of 35 yards. The boiler struck a stack of timber, levelling it to the ground. Young McKay was fearfully scalded and bruised, his stomaoh being severely injured. He was picked up iv an unconscious state and taken to a house, where oil was applied to his body. Everything possible was done for the injured man, but he was beyond human aid, and two hours after the accident he expired, and before a doctor could arrive from Otaki. Deceased was about 21 years of age and unmarried. Had the boiler gone in the other direction it would have gone into a portion of the mill where eight or nine men were , working, and the result might have bean far mo 2 serious.
