Local Statistics.

By the courtesy of the Traffic Manager and the local stationmaster, Mr Imrie, we are enabled to give a resume of the work at the Foxton wharf for the year 1896. Over 10,785 tons passed over the wharf, and the quantity of wool and hemp, and coal will strike most attention. There were shipped 8641 bales of wool, 7585 bales of hemp, and 622 bales of tow, 112,909 ieet of timber, 252 casks of tallow, 508 hides, and 102 bundles of sheep skins, There were also sent away 1372 sacks of produce, 1 trap, 174 head of cattle, 8 horses, 8267 sheep, and 202 tons of general merchandise. There were received inwards 8874 tons of coal, of which 1088 were for local requirements ; 12,600 feet of timber, and 6160 tons general mer chandise.
