Buyers were not keen at auction, bueiness being done privately at prices quality considered, i shade under Palmers ton rates ; 2 and 4-tooth wethers made 6s and 6a 8d respectively. Yesterday, at Palmerston, cattle . mastered freely. The entry comprised for the most part, grown bullocks in fat and forward condition, and some useful pens of store steers. Qn the whole, competition was better than anticipated, and together With a total olearanee at rather reJ^rived rates, gave a more oheerful lone to the market than has lately prevailed. Sheep- in moderate numbers, quality ranging from medium to good. There was a fair enquiry, though not muoh was sold under the hammer. We tucoaeded in placing •11 bat a pen of wethere (for whioh we thought a good figure . was re* fised.) We quote : Fat and forward btilloeu 46 j forward bullocks £4 4* ; 8-yiartiteera. £8 81 to MS 18s ; • year steer* 12 18s; SO month •teers £2 9t|: yearling steers 823 to 861 fid ; cows and calves £2 2s 6d to 18 181 ; fat and forward heifers £8 td : small weaners 99. Sbeen—sat ewes 5s 6d to 5s 8d ; wethers (medium weights) 7s 8d ; S-tooths 5s to 5s Id; 4-tooth wethers 6s (M ; second rate 2-tooths Ca6d.
