A Lady's Letter.

Wellington, Deo. 6, 1806. I think I am not exaggerating Wotn I My that nearly the whole of Wellington was out on parade last Bight, (he favourite route being of eoarw Lambton Quay, Willis Street md Cuba Street ; it was long past midnight before the streets got anything like dear, and quiet was restored again. I suppose now that the elections are over we will settle down once more to the usual routine of our daily, life, but during the past week the one and only thought has been issue of the now past elections. It wai a great pity that the mistake was made in first announcing the successful Wellington candidate?. For fully half an hour, everyone thought that the three men were Hutchison, Stout and Atkinson ; then the mistake was found out, and the names stood thus — Hutchison, Stout and Fisher. What a halfhour of bliss that must have been to Mr Atkinson and his supporters, and how different from the nexs halfhour. He has my sympathy, for indeed it must have been a great disappointment to him.

A Bazaar, in aid of the Melanesian Mission and Country District Fund, Wai opened last Thursday afternoon by Mrs Wallis. Bishop Wallis also made a short speech. The decorations were very pretty, and consisted of numbers of olear vases of single poppies of all tolours, and in another room the mantelpiece was a mass of the most lovely cream roses. Oar hostess reoeived in front of the house, and Was wearing a yellowish fawn coloured poplin gown trimmed with green and tea shot silk and gold passementerie, largt black hat trimmed with pompadoir ribbon loops and yellow fiowert. Every night this week, the conoert hall of the Exhibition, has been packed and hundreds unable to gain admission. Lord Glasgow and his daughters were present at the performance of " Hinemoa " last Wednesday night. After the performa rev. His Excellency sent for Mr A! < Ii!l, the composer and oonduv j Aod congratulated him on the result of his excellent composition. After which three cheera were given for Lord Glasgow and Mr Hill. The Cricket match, Auokland y, Wellington, resulted in a somewhat eaay win for tha visitors. It was a pity our best team couldn't be got together, it would have made the match much more interesting.
