Football Sports.
On Tuesday afternoon the fporti originated by the Foxton Football Club were held on the Racecourse by permission of the Foxton Racing Club. The weather wag all that could be desired, and a very pleasant afternoon was passed by those who < attended, which were not, however, as many as should have. The many events were well contested and the handicapping bad been done with judgment. A number of extra races were got up, beyond those on the programme, for the children. Mr C. A. Harrison was a capital secretary, getting the events off promptly and without fuss, and it will be conceded that he did a very large amount of work in a very pleasant manner. Mr Little likewise was no idle man, as he wai the starter, a position requiring tact and firmness. He, however, fully justified his election. The two judges did their duty efficiently, and ap-f* p.ared most of the afternoon attaohed to each other very much — by a piece of tipe The judges were Messrs S .ansell and Thynne, and one or two finishes were exceedingly olose. The committee helped matters forward, and we can fay confidently that no meeting could have been more smoothly and better conducted. Appended ere the results : — 1. Nye (18yds) 8 Ingram, the limit man, was never caught, and won by about 4yds, Cole and Nye having a good set to for second honours. 6.
