Spraying Fruit Trees.
The following letter appeared in the Standard : — Sib, — As now ft the proper time to dress apple trees infested with scale pest which esoaped the winter dressing (Leaflet No. 80, Gardeners), kindly allow me to draw your readers' attention to the tenderness of the young scale now on the move, creeping out from under the old hard shells, which appear to the naked eye like whitish dots ; also to point but the best remedies for this season of the year, which are the «! Sulphide of Soda " and the " Kerosene Emulsion " washes, made as under :-" Kerosene Emulsion " : Water, 1 gal; soap, Jib, boiled until dissolved ; pour into 2 gallons of 'kerosene and well churn; when cold use 1 part to 12 parts of water. ".Sulphide of Soda " ; Dissolve 801bs ■oft soap in 60 gals water ; boil Slbs concentrated lye with Bibs Bulphur in 2 gals of water till thoroughly dissolved ; then mix the whole and boil for half an hour ; add 80 gals water and use warm.— l am, &c, J.
