The Czar visited the Academy, the Mint, the Palace of Jostiot, the ■ Pantheon (where he deposited a wreath on the late President Carjiot'f tomb) and the Hotel des Invalides. He also laid the foundation itone of a bridge in connection with the coming International Exhibition, received an address at the Hotel de Ville, and attended the Comedie Francaise in the evening. The Czar visited the Louvre, Sevres and Versailles, and then started for Cbalous. Before his departure he left a sum of 100,000 francs to be distributed among the poor of Paris, and ordered a gold wreath to be placed on the coffin of the late President Carnot. A speech by the Czar, implying that he would probably pay a second visit, created frantic enthusiasm, and another salute was fired. The British fleet has arrived at Balonioa. . : The Porte is discussing the question of whether or not to confiscate the property of the fugitive Armenians in order to recoup the losses sustained by foreigners. The United States Government has ordered five warships to proceed to Smyrna. News has been received that half of Guayaquil, a oity and seaport of Ecuador, South Amerioa, hag been destroyed by fire. The damage is estimated at six millions sterling. A thousand people are rendered homeless.
