Presentation to the Rev. R. Young.
Yesterday morning a number of residents met at Mr W. Rutherford's office to make a presentation to the Ray. R. Young, who is leaving this district for Foxton. His Worship the Mayor, Mr W. T. Wood, occupied the chair, and in asking the rev. gentleman to accept the address and accompanying purse of sove<* reigns, alluded in graceful terms to the respect and esteem in which he is held by all classes o! the com** munity. The address was as follows :— To the Rev. R. Young —Dear Sir, —We the undersigned residents} of Pal* merston North respectfully ask you to accept this testimonial, together with the accompanying purse of sovereigns as a memento of our respect and esteem. We deeply regret that your promotion necessitates your leaving this town, where you have been such a power for good, and we sincerely hope that your labours may be as successful in the district to wbich you go as they have baen here. [Here follow the signatures.] Mr Young suitably replied.
