+ ■ - ■ The ordinary monthly meeting was held at Sanson yesterday at 11 a.m. Present— The Chairman (Cr Ransom), and Crs Robinaon, Masters, Hammond, Strang, and Taylor. The minutes of the iast meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. The following correspondence was iead and considered : — FV oti2 J B. Mclntyre, offering on b -half of Mt Signal, the snm of 5s per ton for all thj old iron lying at ibe tramway sheds at Sanson. From A. H. Briscoe, calling attention to condition of oalf art on Awiihuri-Campbelltown road, and suggesting that it be cleaned out. From H. Winks, poundkeeper, sending his report, and asking for another lease, as be bad been pat to some considerable expense in shifting lhe pound. From Clerk Foxton Borgogb Council, suggesting that application ba made to tbe Government for a grant to pay the dootor attending the Natives, and who come into tbe Borough for treatment while residents of the County. The Clerk was instructed to write the Native Minister on the matter. From the Marton Mercury, applying for a share of the advertising, and wishing permission to insert advertisement re loan proposals. The Couocil decided that the application bo not entertained. From J. War ragh, requesting Ibat C. Simpson's name be placed on the rate roll fov section 18, Oroua Block 87. • From R. Dafter, asking that bis uame be placed on the Rate*roil for section 815 and 821, Sandon, in place of W H. Tompkins. From ih . Commercial Union Assurance Company, regarding policy on tramway s. hed. From A H. Sutcliff, re damage incurred to goods oarried by the tram. Loft in tho hands of the manager tn settle. From the Colonial Secretary, enclosing F. Purnell's appointment as in. p. etor of Abbattoirs. From M. Alderson, asking that the name of R. Koberteeon be (htoad on tbe Rate-roll for seotion 198, Rongotea. From J. H. Hankins, forwarding opinion re traffio on roads. From the Assets Realisation Board, forwarding list of purchasers at sale of the Carnarvon Estate. From Rangitikei County Council, sending copy of balance sheet. From Edwin Ashby, saying' the meeting of ratepayers at Montoa schoolhouse was favourable to tha raising of tbe £6000 loan. A letter was read signed by a number of natives at Motuiti catling attention to the culvert across tbe road in the main drain througb.. iha Paranui swamp, also asking tbat the culvert be lowered so as to .get a better outlet. >*•"■" From Horseshoe Drainage Board requesting a pipe culvert being put in on Jones' Line. From Sluggish River Drainage Board, asking for a refund of the oost of constructing two bridges, one at Oroua Bridge and tbe other at Taikorea. resolutions. The following resolutions were carried : — Proposed by Cr Masters, seconded by Cr Robinson, That the name ot Riohard Dafter be placed on tba rate roll for sections 815 to $21,. township of Sanson, in plaoe of W. H. Tompkins. Proposed by Cr Taylor, seoonded by Cr Hammond, That the artearj of rates owing by W. Ampblet on.section 141, Awahuri, be allowed to lapse owing to his being a charitable aid patient. Proposed by Cr Taylor, seconded by Cr Masters, That the Chairman and Cr Hammond frame certain bye-laws inoluding ooe to regulate the traffio on the roads within the County, aud that the bye laws , so famed be submitted to the Council's,. solicitor for his concurrence. Proposed by Cr Bin. om, seoonded by Cr R.tbinson, lhat Crs Taylor 1 and Ham inond sign the r*fc»4polt.
Proposed by Cr Robinson, se! ciond ea by Cr Masters, That the appointment of the poundkeeper be left with tbe Chairman. Proposed by Cr Ransom, seconded by Cr Taylor, That Mr F. Purnell be appointed Returning offioer for the County, and he be paid £1 for each election. Proposed by Cr Taylor, seconded by Cr Hammond, That tenders be invited for grubbing the gorse near Glune's corner complained of in the tramway manager's report, tenders to be in by the next meeting of the Council. The Tramway manager reported on tha working of the tramway, and made several suggestions; he also put in a balance sheet of amounts due to Council and the amount of expenditure for the month. The report and balance sheet were reoeived, several Councillors remarking that it had been very very well prepared by tbe manager. The overseer's report was read on ihe condition of roa cU and bridges in tiie County. Tbe accounts having been passed the Council adjourned until Wednesday, 14th October.
