Mr Austen Chamberlain, M.P.
" The greatest compliment which can be paid perhaps to the Colonial Secretary," says a writer in the July Number of the "Windsor Magazine," "is to say that he looks scarcely older than his son, Mr Austen Chamberlain, M.P. And certainly one of the proudest days in Mr Chamberlain's life was that on which his eld* est son made his maiden Bpeech, earning graceful compliments from Parliamentary veterans. Born, in 1863, Auaten Chamberlain was educated at Rugby and at Trinity College, Cambridge, graduated M.A. in 1889. He studied also in Berlin and Paris. In 1892 he entered the House of Commons as Liberal Unionist Member for East Worces* tershire, -for which constituency he was re-elected last year. He holds the office of Civil Lord of the Admiralty, and has already displayed considerable aptitude for parliamentary work. Like his father, be wears a single eyeglass, greatly to the advantage of caricaturists. At present, being a bachelor, he resides under his father's root. An amiable young man, he is certain to go far in the world of politics."
