How to Glean Marble.
Marble is liable to beoome discolored. A plaster made of equal parts of the strongest soapsuds and quicklime to the consistency of paste and spread over the discolored parts will often drive them out The stuff must be left on for 24 hours and then washed off with soap and water. Ordinary stains on marble oan be subjeoted to an application of finely powdered pumice stone aud powdered chalk. Finely sift these powders and add water until it becomes a paste, and rub it well all over the marbla After it has been left for some time wash the surface thoroughly with soap and water, and the marble will look like new. Iron stains, which ocoasionally occur, can be taken out by damping the marks with lemon juice or oil of titriol, or else with oxalio acid diluted with spirits of wine, and after being lift on for some time the spots should be nibbed with old linen.
