According to a statoment in the New York World, by actual count the Standard Dictionary, exclusive of the appendix, 801.865 vocabulary ..words and phrases, and the appendix of propor names, foreign phrases, etc., contains 47,4C8 entries, making the total vocabulary of the diotionary 349, 333, thin aftor great caro has been exercised to escludo all useless words. The immonso increase of tho vocabulary of the English languago appears from the fact that tho vocabulary of Webster's International Dictionary i 3 125,000 and the Century Dictionary 235,000.
