Some time ago an attempt was made on the life of Li Hung; Chang, the Chinese statesman, and a bullet from a revolver lodged in his face. AU attempts to trace the missile were futile, but by means of the Bontgen rays the locality of the ballet has been discovered.
The brilliant mare La Fle'ebe, by St. Simon— Quiver, owned by the late Baron Hirscb, has been sold for 12,600 guineas. The stud owned by the late Colonel North has been sold for £40,000. At the wool auctions bidding was spirited, though prices show from par to 5 per cent decline. In the House of Commons the Agricultural Bating Bill has beta read a third time. The wool sales continue firm at tha opening rates.
