Mr Chamberlain states that the military authorities have been ad vised not to employ Indian soldiers against the Mashonas, as the natives would regard such a course as a confession of tne weaknessof the whites. The Government were, however, added Mr Chamberlain, Bending a battalion of King's Rifles to the Cape. It is reported that three Austra* Hans have been killed by Matabele natives at a place some 20 miles north of Fort Salisbury.
