There is greafc activity in the American naval yards, in preparation for the possibility of service in Cuban waters. Claiming the righfc to arrest foreigners on the left bank of tha Cuyuni River, the Venezuelan authorities have arrested Mr Harrison, a British official. The Turkish soldiery are marking the houses of the Christiana resident in Canea, the chief seaport of Crete, and a massacre is feared. Seven thousand Cretans, fearing massacre, have taken refuge in a monastery at Gonia, and are seeking to emigrate tb Greece. Alarmed at the indications of sympathy in the United States with fche Cuban insurgents, the Spanish Government has determined to pour 100,000 more men into Cuba before January. The Christians in Crete are refusing relief proffered by the Turkish officials.
