♦ The four leaders of the Reform Committee have been released OB payment of £25,000 each, and their agreeing to abstain from taking part in politics ; otherwise they are to be banished for life. The fines imposed on the leadwfl of the Reform Committee baying been paid, they have been released from custody. Colonel Rhodes declined to prom* ise that he would abstain from taking part in politics during the period demanded, and has been banished from the country. He goes to the Cape. Davies and Sampson, who refused to petition for their release, are still in custody. The Chartered Company of South Africa have agreed to compensate the mining companies for their losses arising- out of the recent trouble.
