Egypt.
■ ♦ ■ The Egyptian troops have defeated the Dervishes at Firkeh Hills. The engagement was brisk, as the Dervishes offered stubborn resistance for three hours, till the mounted infantry turned the position and prevented a retreat. One thousand of the enemy were killed, while the Egyptian loss was only 60. Camels, horses, provisions and many prisoners were captured. In order to complete the rout the cavalry are pursuing the scattered remnants of the Khalifa's forces. A contingent of 8700 sepoya has arrived at Suafaim. The Mixed Tribunal has ordered the Government to replace the advance made by the Caisie de la Dette towards the expenses of the Soudan expedition, with interest and costs. The French and Russian members of the Caisse have been directed to execute the judgment.
