Ono of tho most famous smiths of the Weald was Ht. Dunatan, archbishop of Canterbury. May field in Busses is the sito uf an ancient archiepiacopal palace, and here, according to some, took place the terrific encounter between St. Dnnstan and the dtivif. At *ny rate, the anvil, hammer and tongs which are ailegod to have belonged to the saint are still preserved at Maytield palace. —Gen^ tleman's Magazine
