Eagar. l'esterday the above races were hild at Otaki. Tha meeting was a very successful one, noted for good racing and large fields. The attendance was large, some 1500 persons being present. Mr Eagar was, as usual, a most courteous secretary, and all tbe officials ably supported him. The Otaki band played during the day under bandmaster Cimino. The totalisator was well patronised, £3816 being put through tbe machine. A number of Foxton residents travelled down to Otaki and one or two were lucky enough to participate in the one large dividend of the day, £20 19a, on Slaiden in the Stewards' Stakes. Following are tha results :— 1. 11.80 a.m.— Tbial Handicap, of 40 sovs. ; second horse to receive 10 sov3. from the stakes. Open to horses that have not won a hack race of any description during the present racing season. Nomination 20i, acceptance 10s. Three-quarters of a mile. Indian Shot, 7st 31b 1 Gaspard, 7st 81b ... 2 Calmarine, 7»t7lb ... 8 Seventeen started. Puawai wai bracketed with the winner. Won by two lengths. Time, lmin 22*eo. Dividend, £7 14s. 2. 12.11 p.m.— First Hurdle Handicap, of 60 sovs. ; second horse to receive 10 soys, from the stakes. Nomination, 253, acceptance, 30s. One mile sixtyfive chains. Steal King, list 41b 1 Tenby, 9at 4lb ... 2 Tell-tale, 9st 21b ... 8 Seven started. Won comfortably by a length. Time, Surin 88see. Dividend, £8 11s. 8. 1 p.m.— Otaki Plate Handicap, of 160 sovs. ; second horse to receive 20 sov3., and third horse to receive 10 sovs. from the stakes. The winner of any race (after tbe declaration of weights) of tbe advertised value of 25 sovß. or over to carry a penalty of 71b. Nomination 50s, acceptance 60i. One mile and a half. Crimson Streak, Bst Blb .. .. 1 Light, 7at ... 2 First Result, 7st 81b 8 Eleven started. Won by a neck. A protest was eutered by the owner of Light against Crimson Streak for boring his horse on to the rails, but was dismissed by the stewards. Timr, 2min 48 2 sih sees.
