Why not a Chess Tournament.

! Last night some lovers of ches3 living at Bulls and in Palmerston had a game by telegraph. This is certainly an easy and pleasant way of encountering opponents and is encouraged by the Telegraph department as they make but a small charge for the use of the line for thia purpose. Our local Chess Club has not many good players but they would doubtless like to try their skill with other clubs that have only just been started. We might suggest that as there has been a friendly contest with Otaki in Tennis, our friends there should start a Chess and Draughts Club and have a bout with us. Tho town of Otaki would be benefit* ed by a club of this cha* racter, and the excitement of competition will keep all clubs better together.
