A Right Move.

The meeting on Tuesday night to form a Chess and Draughts Club was

a big success as it deserved to be. We have every hope that if properly managed the club will be even more than its title implies, and Will supply a long felt want. TJi.> Secretary needs to be a foan who will take keen interest in the scheme as upon him the chief responsibility will lie. The suggestion oF asihg the Library wt> hope will not .be adopted as wo do not think the Borough will let it for such a purpose and if they were inclined to do so, we doubt their having the power, the inoreased advantage of Ibis club will lie in its being a place where a country member can call in during the day and write a letter or two or meet those he is desirous ot doing, and from what we have heard prior to the meeting the most suitable rttom has been offered at an exceptionally low rent. We trust this club will be worked on an independent basis* the members ready to pay a fair share towards their comfort and enjoyment and be careful to cut their coat according to their olothi The Club is one which if housed in its owd domicile will abpeal to the majority „to join and should therefore be a financial success. The committee will have a lot of work before them in suggesting rules, &c, but the rbembers ap» pear to be a good men and true " and will probably easily overcome the difficulties before them. Whilst awaiting their report we wish the club all the success it, deserves.
