Early Settles' Picnic. a^HE Early Settlers of Palmers'on North and vicinity hereby extend to the early settlers of the Foxton-Sandon districts and Man* Chester Block a hearty invitation to a t ionic- to be held on the Manawatu Polo Club's charming grounds at Hokowhitu, in Palmerstou N. on FRIDAY, MARCH 27th, 1896. Intending guests will please com* municate to the secretary not later than MONDAY, 28rd inst , their acceptauce of this invitation stating the name of the head of the family and also the number of the family they propose bringing, as also the year of arrival in the district, when passes to the ground will be posted by return mail. The committee of management has -decided that no deviation from this rule can be made. Programme.— A procession of veh'cles will start fruni the Square shortly af:er arrival of (he m rning trains from North and South about 11.45 for the Picnio grounds, where lunch will he ou the tables from I p.m. to 4.80 p.m. On arrival at the grounds a few short addresses will be .delivered from the Polo Pavilion to the gathering after which sports and games for young and old will be got off and Mr Merrick's BrAss Band will play selections of short intervals during the day.
