H^HE Early Settlers of Palmerston J • North and vicinity hereby ex« tend to the early settlers of the EYxton-Sandon districts and Hair cheßter Block a hearty invitation to a * icnic to bs held on the Manawatu Polo Club's charming grounds at Hokowhitu, in Palmerstoa N. on FRIDAY, MARCH 27th, 1896. Intending guests will please communicate to the secretary not later than MONDAY, 28rd inst., their acceptance of this invitation stating the name of the head of the family and also the number of the family they propose bringirg, as also the year of arrival in the district, when passes to the ground will be posted by return mail. The committee of management has decided that no deviation from this rule cau be made. Programme. — A procession of vehicles will start from the Square shortly after arrival of the morning trains from North and South about 11.45 for the Picnic grounds, where lunch will be on the tables from 1 p.m. to 4.80 p.m. On arrival at the grounds a fow short addresses will be delivered from the Polo Pavilion to the gathering after which spirts and games for young an<l old will be got off and Mr Merrick's Brass Band will play selections of short intervals during the day.
