Oa Saturday afternoon a match between the Oroua and Feilding Clubs was played on the first mentioned club's ground at Herrington. There were a good number of spectators and following the usual hospitable custom afternoon tea and refreshments Were provided, the ladies have taken the matches itt turn, Mrs James Robinson, Mrs McLennan, Mrs Nixon, and yesterday Mrs John Strang. The teams were as follows, from which it will be noticed a very great change was made in the home team, two of the usual players having "been granted a holiday and the Messrs A and W. Strang taken in ijheir place. Surh an alteration, even ihough made for this one match hardly appears wise in view of the early date the tournament will be held, as in the face of such teams as the Manawatu and Rangitikei competing the representative team cf the Oroua's should have missed no opportunity of ' playing together. Fkildino : Lewis, Pickering, Elkington and Gie3en. Oroua: McLennan, A. and W. Strang and 0. Robinson. Mr J. Strung was umpire and Mr Nixon timekeeper. It was agreed to play six ten minutes spells. Ist Spell was noted for a goal made by W. Strang. At the commencement McLennan hit a direct drive between the goal posts but just prior to the ball reaching its destination, it was stopped, it -looked by accident but it may have been by excellent play, by one of the Feilding team with hi? stick. This made the game Oroua 1. Feilding 0. .■ 2nd SpelL had only just commenced when A. Strangf from midfield gave a powerful drive which almost ecored but was cleverly baulked by the Feildingifces. A good rush was made and the ball was taken up to the other goal and a score secured by Elkington for Feilding. Another good bit of work secured a score for Oroua by Robin- ; Yon. At call of time score stood Oroua 2, Feilding 1. 3rd Spell commenced with W. Strang hitting the ball a regular skyer and though it flew in a good direction yet it was not accurate enough to score. All the Oroua man have the power of hitting. Shortly after A. Strang secured a score by completing a terrific drive of McLennan's almost from Feildiug'ti goal to their own. At the end of the spell scoring went on fast and furious for the local men, as 0. Robinson made a goal, then McLennan, and then Robinson again. Score, Oiroua 6, Feilding 1. 4th Spell opened well by A. Strang racing the ball to the goal ! by a series of fine hits but the last drive sent it too far and out of ! bounds, on its being thrown it, A. Strang' hit it through the goal in the twiukliug of an rye. - In the next scrimmage a foul occurred and a free his was claimed and on W. Strang driving, the distanoe was completed by McLennan. Just at the end of the spell McLennan again secured a goal thu3 making Oroua 9 to Feilding 2. The last spell was a very short on 9. and A, Strang was the only scorer. The game thus ended jn a, win for the home team by 10 to 2. The Feilding men played hard, and individually their men were good, beiug good drivers and possesing swift ponies, but they lacked combination and need good coaching-
