School Excursion.

The Foxton {School Committee met on Tuesday to consider when, where, and how -a school excursion could be held. The chairman bad been in communication with the Foxton station-master and had ascertained that a special train could be obtained on applying to the Traffic Manager and chat such train would stop elsewhere than at a station if so arranged for. The committee after due coniideration instructed the chairman to secure a special train for Friday, the 6th March, to leave Foxton at 8 80 a.m. and the picnic ground at 5 p.m. The site selected was the piece of land at the north end of the Manawatu Gorge, on the river bank. Tickets will only be attainable from the chairman and all particulars will be duly notified by advert tisement. The Committee desire it to be distinctly understood that they provide no provisions or do more than become the negotiating parties with

the department, and managers of the excursion. The only break they make is in providing boilers and two capable persons to keep the same filled with hot water upon the picnic ground. Since the above was in type the chairman has had a telegram from the Manager stating that the date mentioned would not suit. It has therefore been suggested that the following Friday, the 13th be ftbe day.
