1.0.G.T.

Although we have not heard very much for some time past either of or from the local body of Good Templars, we are well pleased to learn— that the Independent Order is still™ alive and flourishing in the town and district. The maeting of the " Try Again " Lodge on Thursday night was devoted to the installation of officers for the current term, the consumption of tea and coffee, a cake competition, and general improvement. The " general improvement " part of the programme was of the usual high order, the " cake competition " indicated the possession of considerable talent in this line by several of the sisters, and was rewarded by five prizes bestowed by the brothers, and the " consumption of tea and coffee " was simply astonishing. The foN lowing officers for the current term were duly installed by Br. Westwood, D G.C.T., assisted by Br. C. Spring and Sis. Walls as Installing Marshals :-C.T., Br. C. Morgan ; V.T., Sist. Saville ; 8., Br. T. Westwood ; A.S.. Br. 0. Austin ; F.S., Br. W. 8. Stewart; T., Br. M. Walker; Chaplin, Sist. Procter ; P.C.T., Br. J. Walsh; M., Br. H. J. Reed; A.M., Sist. Walls ; G., Br. King ; Sent. Br. H. Brown ; E.D., Br. W. S. Stewart. The reports of the outgoing officers, which showed that the finances were in a sound condition and prospects satisfactory, were received and adopted unanimously. We wish the Lodge the suocess it merits.
