Butter v. Oil.
I Write 3 a London correspondent : Anything which tonda to increase the consumption of batter must be n boon to Australia and New Zealand. Let us therefore rejoice over the latent medical freak which is to replace cod liver oil with the colonial condiment. It appears that the frames of certain "individuals are like machines, and rpquire frequent lubrication. Huha-iu &>& liver oil h;\s been extensively v.-ad for the purpose. But some stomachs shy at this generous liquid. Kecemly it occurred to a great doctor to substitute butter. He fouund that from j a quarter to half a pound could be easily taken, spread thickly on thin slices of bread, and that patients rejecting the oil could easily digest the butter. Well, I confess, I shouldn't have thought it. The cook over-generous with butter had always seemed to me the worst of all cooks. Her dishes may be seductive, but indulgence therein utterly damns— excuse the word, but it really does damns digestion.
