I A New Style of Decoration.
M. Margot has taken advantage of the fact that aluminium, zinc and magnesium, when fused, will adhere to glass in order to introduce a new decoration — namely glass, coated with these metals. The pure metals require a very high temperature to melt them, for instance 1112 deg. Farenheit in the case of aluminium, but M. Margot hai found that alloys of the metals possess the same prof perty. An alloy of 90 parts tin and ten parts of aluminium melts at 662 deg. Fahrenheit, while an alloy o^)s parts of tin and 5 parts of zinc <-fneils at 398 deg. Fahrenheit. Both of these alloys have a fine untarnishable lustre. Moreover, one can actually solder glass with them as easily aa one solders two metals, either by warming in an oven the two surfaces of glass to be united and applying the solder as one does sealing-wax, or with the ordinary soldering iron.
