President Cleveland's second Message asking the House to promptly relieve the danger of a depletion in the gold reserve has been badly received.
The President has signed the Bill appointing the Commission in connection with tha boundary dispute, the members of which will probably visit Madrid 'and the Bagua to examine the ancient records bearing on the subject.
It is stated that high officials have informed the United States Government that the researches of the Commission will probably confirm England's claim.
The New York World implored Mr Gladstone to speak words of peace and fellowship to soothe the passions and! check the clamour of the Americans. Mr Gladstone cabled that he dare not interfere, and that only common-sense was required.
Mr John Bedmond cabled to the New York World that, in the event of war, the Irish would give a solid support to the United States.
A report is current to the effect that the committee in connection with the America Cup dispute has given its decision against Lord Dunraven, finding that prior to the race he could easily have obtained remeasurements.
By an explosion in the coal bankers of H.M.S. Bepulse at Chatham nine men were injured.
