Railway Excursion.
Mr P. Hennessy has been endeavouring to secure a railway excursion from Palraerston to the sea beach. With this object he has comuauni* cated both with the owners of the Queen of the South and with the railway traffic manager. Mr Hennessy desired to see the excursion on New Year's Day, and had found that the steamer would be willing and the tide would suit. However, on writing to Mr Buxton the following letter has been received in reply, from which will be seen that the day will not suit. Mr Hennessy will have to '• try, try again." The text of Mr Buxfcon's letter is : —
" Yours of 22nd inst to hand. In reply 1 have to inform you that un* fortunately the invitation comes too late to be of any service, as I have already arranged an excursion from Falmerston to the Rangitikei River and back, bat I shall be glad to consider the advisability of arranging an excursion to Manawatu Heads on some future date during the coming season."
