Sale of Work.

Thrift little words signifying much —Sale of Work. Work of busy fingers undertaken to help on the cause of religion ; work done in the *firm conviction of a ready and lucrative sale. This sale of work is to be held on Tuesday in the Public Hall. The Mayor has undertaken to open the proceedings, and a good attendance is looked for. We have broken no secrecy in having previously mentioned that it is the Primitive Methodist congregation who are holding this sale of work, and it is to be hoped sufficient will be raised to pay off the small debt still standing upon the church. If this is done we believe that the three ohurohes in the town will be in the position of being free of encumbrances. We certainly hope the success desired will be achieved. The goods for sale are said to be useful and are to be had at reasonable prices, and without casting any doubt upon the assertion, we declare that if such is the case this sale of work will stand out in startling contrast to others of like nature. Side shows t What sort ? something beyond the stallholders ? It should be so as though they will be undoubtedly "things 6f beauty" still it would not be correct to style them " side-shows." The composer of the advertisement, to keep within what was deemed a reasonable outlay with the printer, has neglected to give such full particulars as the public are bound to desire, but we can say, from " information received " and from " official sources " these side shows are likely to be most attractive. Refreshments, &c, &c. ! The first we know will be good, the constant practice at Quarterly Teas the ladies keep up, assure this, but how the lio., &c, will go we cannot tell. Go and see. We have been reminded that it is juit 20 years ago since the Methodists in Foxton moved towards erecting a church. The present building has cost £600, and a small debt of £22 only remains. It is this amount which it is hoped the Bale of work will Succeed in clearing off. -
