. — ■■- .■;■■.,-♦' — A ship oanal connecting the i Pacific with the Atlantic was commenced in Nicaragua in October 1890, mostly with American money. Apparently * further assistance is , needed and the Commission advise further enquiry into the scheme, as the cost is set down at some twentyseven million pounds. The cables inform us that an important committee recommends that the Board of Trade.'s rule of the road at sea be cancelled. Why ? In a week or two we may expect to be informed.
