One of the Yorkshire regiments, which was on its way to Aden, was intercepted at Gibraltar and ordered to Ashantee. An additional 500 men leave England for Ashantee at once. King Preraeph of Ashantee, with the intention of insulting the Go ve»nor of the Gold Coast Colony, sent two cornmm messengers to interview him. The Governor refined to receive them.
