On the breakdown of the railway service on Easter Monday, occa sioned by the heavy flood, this Levin route whs tho only way open to passengers from Pnlmerston to Fo ton. f Five Foxton residents were driven in tlia"Ooach froin- Levin on Tuesday morning, 16th April, after having previously endeavoured to get oVei from Shannon. On Monday, the 15th April, the irual Coach was run through the flood to Levin as well as a vehicle in the afternoon to Ker^ru, with the Manager of the New Zealand Estates Company and the Secretary of the Wellington Freezing Company as passengers, who failed to succeed in crossing at the Shannon Ferry in the morning. Single Fare?, 4s ; Return (available 1 month), 6s. The Condi leaves Whyte'a Hotel, Foxton, every week day at 5.30 a.m., for Levin, catching the train to Wellington at 8.0 a.m. The Coach leaves Levin Hotel at 13. 15. a.m. on the arrival of tho train from Wellington, reaching Foxton at 12.15 p.m. Passengers by this route will reach Wellington by mid-day, and at a cost, of only' 17a return.
