Th 6' * following correspondence, which speaks for ifcaelf, has been handed us for publication by Mr John Holmes, of Holmes & Co., Flax Brokers, Wellington : — Wellington, 28rd. Oct., 1805. Dear Sir, - During the recent: visit to your district of Mr W. Holmes, several of the settlers at Oroua Bridge brought under his notice the necessity for getting better loading facilities at the railway station there. 'We made application to We Railway Department here, and through the kindness of the General Manager, Mr Ronayne, we are able ta advitfjAfijat^saek truck and load* ing plaUpp'be provided. We eawfee copy of the letter from the Department. Yours faithfully, John Holmes, & Co. Copy of letter from N.Z. Government Railway : — Wellington, 22nd. Oct., 1895. Gentlemen —With reUrence to your letter of the 15th mat. asking that a suitable trac'i and skid be placed dr'Oroua Bridge station. I have the honor to inform you that some time time ago this Department supplied a block and tackle for the loading of flax at Oroua Bridge, but it was only there a short time before it was stolen* and it is feared that it ft saok truck were placed there it would share the- same fate. If, however, one of the settlers in the negh* bourhood of the station will become responsible for the saok truck one will be supplied. In the meantime a loading plate will be placed at the station.
