The local cricket season was opened on the racecourse reserve on Tuesday afternoon. Tho attendance of the general public was not large, but confined to one person who
exhibited considerable interest in the game. Tho ploying m: mbers of the club, however, turned up in satisfactory numbers, nnd a good game was played between sides cho.-tn by the Captain and Vice-captain respectively. Th 1 c.ptain't} team gave rather a feeble exhibition of batting, and were easiiy run over by the vicG'Captain'.s side aided by the batting of Gus Kruse who knocked up 22 in char&c' eristic style. Among?t Iho younger plnyers the bowling of E. Ingram and the fielding of L. Fume ga'e promise of records to come. We are given to understand that the Secretary is in communication with Uio secretaries of the other clubs in the district, and several matches will be arranged to come off before Christmas.
