Mr T. 11. E-cott, writing in Ihe •Realm," declares that the late Lord Beaconsfifcld was the first to perceive Mr Chamberlain's approaching Conservatism. He met him one pight, and observed him closely, • at the friendly table ot an accomplished hostess. Be-fore the evening was over the Conservative leader ventured upon the bold prediction, ♦'Before he is sixty that mnn will be (Secretary of State in a Conservative Cabinet.' The prophecy has boen verified to the letter.
