A. B. Worthington.

The affairs of A. B. Worthington, guide, philosopher, and friend of the Ohristchnrch Students of Truth, are being freely discussed in the Cathedral City* According to the Star, a meeting of persons who sympathise with the actiou of the Sun newspaper with reference to Mr A. B. Worthington was held in Hobbs' Buitdmgs on Monday night. The Rev. W. Birch was in the chair, and the room Was crowded. The chairman, in opening the meeting, referred to the conduct of the plaintiff in the libel action since coming to Christchurch, and stated that the main object of the meeting was to provide means for the editor of the £'«» to carry oil the Case. All who did not sympathise with this object were requested to leave the room, and two men left. It was proposed by Mr Bendeley, seconded by a lady and carried unanimously, " That this meeting approves of the action of the Sun newspaper in endeavouring to force Mr A. B. Worthington to justify his position as a teacher of morals and religion in this city." The Chairman announced an annonymous donation of £2 2s to the defence fund. Mr Hornsby said that he had, during a long experience, always supported the weaker side. Wealthy papers had said exactly what he had said in the Sun and no libel action had followed. He announced that evidence would be taken in New York, and that of Sister Magdala would be taken here. It was necessary for the good of the community that the matter should be sifted. It was for this purpose, and not for the mere purpose of aiding him personally, that the assistance of the people was required. The Rev. W. Birch was elected treasurer. A strong committee, which includes Bishops Grimes and Julius anfl the whole of the clergy of Christchurch, was appointed, with power to add to their number.
