The Prince of Wales is visiting the King of Denmark, his father in law, at Copenhagen. The latter has been seriously ill. Burlington Arcade has been broken into by burglars, and £1500 worth of jewellery stolen. It is estimated that 8000 of the French troops have died of disease in Madagascar. One regiment, 2400 stiong, has been reduced by death and sickness to 54. Fierce riots took place at Limerick City during the election held to fill the seat declared vacant through the invalid return of the dynamiter Daly. Forty-six men were treated in the hospital, and many of them, after getting their wounds dressed, rushed put to rejoin the fray. It is reported that Major Lofchaire, the Belgian officer responsible for the recent hanging of a British trader named Stokes without ad equate trial, has been recalled from the Congo Free State. The Arabs on the mainland resent Great Britain proclaiming a protectorate over Bahrein Island, in the Persian Gulf. Many armed dhows have assembled in the vicinity and threatened an attack on the Britishers. It is believed the Arabs are in collusion with a faction of the islandtre. i
The officers of the British warships gave the Arabs an hour to disembark and then destroyed 40 dhows, and quelled all opposition.
