Manawatu County Council.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Council was held last Wednesday when there were present Cra Ransom (ohair), Robinson, Taylor, Btrang and Masters. The minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed the following correspondence was read and dealt with. From W. H. Torapkinß re hie conlraot for painting fence. Esom F. Lucinsky re fencing land occupied by writer at Carnarvon junction. From Cr Wilson, asking Council to grant him leave of absence. From J. Herbert Hankin3 with a deed of lease. From Mr E. Samuel requesting statement of amount owing on the hotel and certain properties at Awahari. From A. H. Wylds re the Council's order for coals. From the Railway Department, Wellington, regretting inability to grant < the Conncil a chain road ujitfragh the railway reserve at Oroua bridge, bub offering a half-chain fOftd* From W. A. Sandilands on behalf of Mr A. H. Brisco r* rates for which ttt had been sued. From Commissioner of Taxes, re payment of subsidies to looal bodies, and asking for information with regard to the valuation. From the Sluggish Creek Draining Board, r« survey of certain land requiring to be taken, and stating that a tracing and plans of same had been publicly exhibited. From "W. Hunter declining to give a road through his property. From the Wairarapa South Connty Council with a copy of a resolution passed in that Council. From Alex. Jardine asking for an extension of time for the purchase of the tram. Proposed by Cr Taylor, seconded by Cr Hammond, " That the time of the agreement on the part of Messrs Stewart and Hunt to purchase the Sanson -Carnarvon Tramway be ex tended for six months from the JBth September, : fs9s. — Carried. Proposed f>x Cr Ransom, seconded by Cr Robinson, That the manager of the Bap.li of Australasia, Foxton, be asked to -grant the Council a further excess of overdraft of £500 up to the end of October. — Carried. 193 OTj^y^^lpft'e account be paid.
