Mr McGuire and the Premier.
Evi^artly Mr MoGuire and the Premier have ceased to love one another... Speaking, in the House the other day the former said ;— I Bay nq*Qftvernment that wastes the peopled* ewaey and manages the affairs bTaobtiritry in such a way in order to show a surplus, is worthy to he on the Ministerial benches. An Bon. Member- Kick them out. Mr MoGuire— Sir, the time will pome when, the people of the country will lee how, they are being hoodwinked, and they will be kicked oat. They will go down like fallen angels, never to rise again. Mr flE(HfJpp~-»Wg- mill gnfti-ftnhm the New Plymouth Harbour bonds, ajs then it will be all right. Mcooire^r am afraid, sir, " tb&tlbe ttnhapty settlers in the New Plymouth Bating district will b« de««ftea ftr t^H)tare at they \
have in the past. I have always found the Premier a thorough trickster, but if the word is unparliamentary I withdraw it. . . . Sir, it would be to the ultimate advantage of this great and fertile Country if some temporary calamity befell us, which Would open the eye? of the great body of the people to the maladministration of the Go\ eminent. They certainly are great artists in their ability to mislead the people of the colony. Mr Seddon — That is what we did when we helped you to gei into Parliament. Mr AlcGuire— The honorable gentlemandid not come to the district to advocate my cause— he wettt there to advocate his own. I never asked him to come. The honourable gentleman came to try and refute statements made by Mr Bryce. I certainly did not know the Premier so well, then as Ido now. No one who knows the Government and the Pre« mier so well as 1 do could support them.
