Our Goldfields.

Auckland people can talk of nothing but mining. The Goldfields are more active now than they have ever been. We understand there is every chance of the thing continuing for a time, as English capitalists are putting so much money into the fields. It is the new process of saving gold which has caused the revival, for the gold is so fine that the ordinary battery process would not save half the gold. To show an example of the new process : The Waihi mine six years ago could have been bought for £1000. They knew gold was there but it could not be saved. Now it is formed into a Oompany of 150,000 shares, which are worth £9 each, and about 12^ per annum is paid in dividends.
