Before the withdrawal of the main body of troops from Ohitral the Indian (Government appointed a Council of i Regency to hold office during the ' minority of the young Mehtar Shnji, supported by the influence of the British Resident and a garrison. Mahommedans routed a procession escorting the sacred Hindoo bullocks at Duoba, and assaulted the British collector, who interfered. j The police fired on the rioters, killing and wounding fifty. The Belgian Government ha? postponed the annexationf the Oongo State till 1900, in order to give time for enquiry into the matter.
