_» On Saturday last the Foxton team journeyed to Otaki and were defeated by two tries to nil by the Xi% Toas f The game was played in a frienaH spirit and each side exerted itself strenuously from start to finish to avert defeat. For the Kia Toas, Solomon, Cootes and Whata were the pick of the backs, while all the forwards played really well. For the Foxton men, O'Loughlin at three, quarter played a rattling game r his tackling of the opposing backs as they came' in their formidable passing rushes being a treat to witness. Savell at full and H. Williams at i also collared well. In the f orfftnP division all played well, the pick, perhaps, being Shadbolt and 0, , Robinson. The packing of the! scrums, the heeling out to the backs, and the passing of the backs on the Otaki side was really good, while the lack of combination so noticeable among the Foxton men was ample proof that not half enough frttfll? had been indulged in.
